What Is Local SEO and Why Do You Need It?
Local search engine optimization, or SEO, optimizes your website and online presence to show up when people search for businesses in your area.
Think Google Maps, the Local Pack (the top 3 businesses shown in search results), and “near me” searches.
Local SEO targets customers in your geographic area who are ready to visit, call, or buy. It works for brick-and-mortar businesses, service area businesses, and multi-location companies across Indiana.
How Does Local SEO Work?
Google uses location signals — your address, proximity to the searcher, and local content — to decide which businesses to show in local search results.
Optimizing your Google Business Profile, building local citations, and creating regularly posting to your profile tells Google you’re relevant to local searchers.
There are a lot of working pieces involved, but a holistic local SEO strategy prioritizes exactly what your business needs to start showing up in your market.

FAQS
How long does it take for local SEO to work?
The average is about 3-6 months, but how fast you see results really depends on your current online presence. New businesses will take longer to see traction that businesses that have been online for a long time.
What matters most in local SEO?
The number one factor in local SEO is your Google Business Profile (GBP), including your business information and solid reviews. Your GBP not only tells people important information like operating hours and location, it builds their trust in you before they set foot in your store or pick up the phone.
Can you setup my Google Business Profile for me?
Absolutely! If you don’t have a verified profile already, we can help guide you through initial setup. If you already have a GBP started, we can help you optimize it and keep it up to date.
What about blog posts?
We offer content creation such as blog posts and product pages as part of our main SEO service. If you’re interested in content creation beyond weekly GBP posts, let us know! We can figure out a good balance that works for you.
See our SEO Service page for more info.
What is the difference between local SEO and just SEO?
SEO is an umbrella term that includes anything that helps your business show up online — whether that’s in local results, search engines, or AI. Local SEO specifically focuses on your local rankings and how you appear to people searching for location-based inquiries.
What if I don't have a physical location?
Local SEO is still effective for businesses that don’t have a brick and mortar location, such as service-based or mobile businesses. If this applies to you, we’ll help you set up your business in a way that still gets visibility in local searches without requiring a physical location.
However, if your business is 100% online or serves more than a local area, like an e-commerce brand or national retailer, our SEO Service is probably a better fit.
What if my business has more than one location?
Not a problem! We’ll come up with a plan to help all of your branches ranks for their respective locations.
Do I need a website in order to do local SEO?
Ideally, yes. It’s possible to market your business without one, but a website shows potential customers that you’re legitimate. Certain businesses can get away with having just a social media profile (such as a food truck or coffee shop) but a website is highly recommended for most other types.
If you need a website or want to update your current one, check out our Web Design Service.
Does posting regularly on Google Business Profile improve local rankings?
Yes, posting on your GBP can help improve your rankings, because it signals to Google that you have an active business. Routinely updating your profile sends trust signals to Google that you’re real and operating a legitimate business, but also helps the algorithm match your business with relevant services.
